Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase II Program
Northern Maine Medical Center's (NMMC's) Cardiac
Rehabilitation Phase II Program provides a medically
supervised exercise and education curriculum for those
recovering from heart disease. Clients wear a heart
monitor throughout the duration of their exercise
session and are carefully monitored by registered
nurses. The goal is to help each patient to reach
their optimal heart function.
What Does Exercise Do?
- Exercise increases the efficiency of your entire
cardiovascular system so you can do more with
less strain on your heart.
- Can lower your risk of heart disease.
- Improves your overall fitness.
- Helps you lose weight and control blood pressure.
- May help lower your cholesterol.
- Can improve the quality of your life.
- Increases the physical work capacity.
- Decreases fatigue and gives you more energy.
- Reduces chest pain.
- It can help you relax and sleep.

Topics discussed include diet, exercise, medication,
smoking, sexuality, hypertension, and other issues
