Fort Kent Elementary Students Beautify Hospital/Forest Hill |
On May 24, students from the Fort Kent Community Elementary School followed a decade long tradition to put fundraising dollars towards the beautification of public buildings in the area. With the support of Corriveau’s Hilltop Blossom, students created flower barrels to perfection. The leader of the project, Tamar Philbrook, along with several staff and parent-volunteers constructed various arrangements to be distributed when matured. That date came on June 10th with the largest delivery of flowers to Northern Maine Medical Center and Forest Hill Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.
As part of the annual ritual, Corriveau’s and the student group delivered the flowers with special activities that followed at Forest Hill. This year marked a special occasion where students have had the opportunity to revisit residents who play games with them during National Hospital Week in May. That relationship continued with the delivery of flowers when they were matched with their balloon volleyball team members. Students shared poems, stories and pictures with their resident team member and enjoyed the day of sun.
Mrs. Philbrook’s group raises money each year through bake sales, car washes and other community-related fundraising.
