Dr. Magit is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, with surgical expertise in arthroscopic and open procedures of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He uses state of the art surgical techniques, with a personalized approach, to provide unparalleled clinical and surgical care. He specializes in the treatment of complex shoulder, elbow and knee injuries, including fracture care, ligament repair and reconstruction, cartilage restoration and shoulder joint replacement.
Dr. Magit received his BA from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine with honors, and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Society upon completion. He completed his internship in general surgery orthopedic surgery residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Following residency, Dr. Magit completed a fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the prestigious Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles, CA. During his fellowship, he served as an assistant team physician for the Los Angles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings and several local college and high schools.
During his fellowship, he was awarded the Kerlan-Jobe Fellowship Research Award at the 21st annual Alumni Research Conference. Following his sports medicine fellowship, Dr. Magit also completed a AO-ASIF Foundation Trauma fellowship in both Belgium and Austria. He has also completed traveling fellowships in elbow reconstruction and replacements in London Ontario, and shoulder replacements at the Texas Orthopedic Hospital. He is now an assistant team physician for the US Ski and Snowboard Team, covering the mens and women's freestyle moguls team.
Dr. Magit has published numerous articles in orthopedic sports medicine and currently serves as an Affiliate
Research Scientist at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. His current research interests involve mechanics of the ulnar collateral ligament of the elbow in throwing athletes.
